The Fine Line is a space for women over 45 to explore beauty, fashion, food, well-being, fitness, and all aspects of living a good life. With cutting-edge wellness and fitness guidance and practical but polished beauty, fashion, and lifestyle resources, we celebrate the knowledge that health and happiness come from knowing who you are and where you’re going.
The emotional core of The Fine Line is an ongoing series of personal essays and videos that we call #RealTalk. With a strong point of view on female aging in the modern world, it is intended to resonate with all women, but especially today’s mature woman. Shockingly honest and revealing, #RealTalk showcases the surprises, pain, and humor of aging in the 21st century with authentic emotion. It is here to empower us, to give us a voice in recognizing our struggles, our strengths, our wisdom, and our weaknesses as we grow older.
Founder and CEO Sue Cowie is an entrepreneur, designer, and former owner of home goods boutique Colcha. Her enthusiasm for health and fitness sparked the idea for The Fine Line. When she realized that there wasn’t a digital publication speaking directly to modern, stylish, and refined older women, she set out to launch one.
Editor-in-Chief Allison Hatfield cut her journalistic teeth in the trade press, was an early contributor to Internet publishing, and spent nearly 10 years managing editorial at the ground-breaking women’s site DailyCandy. She is a certified Pilates mat instructor, 200-hour certified yoga instructor, and plant-based diet devotee.
We believe in living authentically, healthfully, and stylishly at every age.
We believe that wisdom and comfortable confidence are the best accessories.
We believe in staying grounded while boldly moving forward.
We believe that we set the standards for beauty and worth — not the media.
We believe that gray hairs and laugh lines should be celebrated — not airbrushed.
We believe that our strongest, sexiest bodies and greatest adventures are still before us.
We believe in the mature woman being seen, heard, and celebrated. Once and for all.
We believe that the second act of life can be our finest.
