Slam balls are an effective way to enhance your workout. Weighing 6 to 20 pounds and about the size of a large pumpkin, they are designed to throw but never bounce away. Instead, slam balls provide resistance and help activate — and exhaust — muscles when you perform dynamic movements.
Try adding one or two slam ball exercises to your gym or home routine in place of free weights. You needn’t fear becoming bulky with slam ball exercises — but you will burn calories and get your heart rate up. In the video above, L.A.-based trainer Julie Diamond shows us a basic slam ball move and a fun way to work out with a partner.
In this short video, Julie demonstrates a more advanced move, including a jump-back and bicep curl. It’s a total-body workout guaranteed to make you sweat.
