Maca is an adaptogen, meaning it can adapt to bring balance to the body wherever it’s needed. Grown in the Andes Mountains, the vegetable has been used since 1600 B.C. to alleviate stress, boost energy, and balance the endocrine system. It’s also a nutritional powerhouse packed with vitamins B through E, amino acids, and fatty acids.

The Benefits

The benefit maca is best known for? A libido boost. We kid you not: This herb can help repair a disappearing sex drive, impacts many people as they grow older. Even if you’re doing just fine between the sheets, maca is still something you may consider if you’re experiencing chronic fatigue or simply feel sluggish more often than you’d prefer. Adding it to your morning smoothie or juice can provide the stamina boost you need sans coffee (and caffeine jitters). It can also help bone health, reduce mood swings, and balance hormones.
