Why You Should Embrace Exercise Basics

Have you ever signed up for a gym membership only to use it for a week or two — and never use it again? It’s happened to the best of us, and the thought of wasting all that money is a disincentive to try it again. But we have good news: You don’t need a fancy gym membership to get fit.

When it comes to toning up and losing weight, nothing beats exercise basics. Squats, push-ups, hip thrusters, and planks are all effective exercises will help you build muscle and bone. Walking is free — and you can do it with a friend. Anything that gets you moving is beneficial.

Ultimately, the best exercise is something you like to do and will keep doing for the rest of your life. Here are seven easy suggestions:

Start jumping rope.

Do body-weight exercises.

Take up yoga at home.

Walk with intention.

Strengthen your core.

Tighten your glutes.

Make running fun.
