Spring Trend Alert: Coral Makeup and More

When you scan the beauty counters and see similar color themes, or notice color themes running through everything from fashion to furnishings, do you ever wonder who decides on the colors du jourCue the Pantone Color Institute.

For 20 years, the institute has designated each year’s annual Color of the Year. This year’s Color of the Year is Living Coral. According to Pantone, “Living Coral emits the desired, familiar, and energizing aspects of color found in nature. In its glorious, yet unfortunately more elusive, display beneath the sea, this vivifying and effervescent color mesmerizes the eye and mind. Lying at the center of our naturally vivid and chromatic ecosystem, Pantone Living Coral is evocative of how coral reefs provide shelter to a diverse kaleidoscope of color.”

OK, then! Count us in with these beauty products in muted to lush and vibrant shades on the Living Coral color spectrum.

NYX coral mascara

With NYX Color Mascara in Coral Reef-Deep Coral you can make a statement by sweeping it on thick or show just a hint in your blink when you use it sparingly.

Laura Mercier blush

Laura Mercier has gone big on coral colors across the line, from Sheen Light Coral Blush Colour Infusion and Sunrise Crème Cheek Colour in Soft Warm Coral, to several coral shades of Velour Extreme Matte Lipsticks.

Crushed Coral blush

Osmosis Pur Medical Skincare’s shades nourish and feed skin. This Osmosis + Color Blush in Crushed Coral made from moringa seed oil, green tea extract, and zinc oxide blends easily and goes on soft.

Jane Iredale lip plumper

Jane Iredale’s Just Kissed Lip Plumper in Sydney leaves lips tingling with a subtle hint of ginger from its essential oil ingredients, including ginger root oil, lemon, and tangerine citrus peel and cranberry fruit extracts.

MAC blush

Really own the eye-catching color of the year when you flaunt MAC Cosmetics’ Eye Shadow in Suspiciously Sweet. You can use it dry or wet.

Dermelect nail polish

Dermelect’s ME Nail Polish in a vivid shade called Head Turner is sure to do just that. We appreciate the color of this long-wearing lacquer but love it more for treating frail and brittle nails.

Morgan Taylor nail polish

Hip Hot Coral from Morgan Taylor Professional Nail Lacquer is a decadently creamy treat for hands and feet.

Bulgari perfume

Bulgari describes its floral-fruity Bulgari Omnia Coral eau de toilette as “inspired by the shimmering hues of precious red coral … reminiscent of summer, the sun, resplendent in nature and far-off oceans.” It’s a fragrant finish to any outfit.
